Mount Tabor Park is a 196 acre, 102 year-old park in southeast Portland, Oregon. Mt. Tabor is unique in that it is built atop an extinct volcanic cinder cone, a remnant of the Boring Lava Fields, dating back to the Pleistocene Era.
Under the jurisdiction of Portland Parks and Recreation, it has what one would expect in a modern city park: walking trails, sports courts, picnic areas and playgrounds. In addition to these things, Mt. Tabor also contains three municipal water reservoirs, an amphitheater and, thanks to its elevation rise over the city, incredible views of Portland, and the Cascade Mountains, including Mt. Hood, Mt. Adams and Mt. St. Helens. Mt. Tabor and its reservoirs are on the National Register of Historic Places.
